Moto GP season is back this weekend. Who is the wealthiest rider on the grid?
MotoGP is the pinnacle of racing on two wheels. The fastest bikes and the most talented riders in the world fill the grid. Have you ever wondered what the top MotoGP rider makes? The wealthiest rider is also the one with the highest salary of $16 million on a yearly basis.
I'm talking about Marc Márquez Alentà with a net worth of $50 million.
1. Athletic Achievements: Marc is the youngest rider to win a MotoGP championship. The Spanish rider has won eight world championships, six in Moto GP, one in Moto 2, and another in 125cc.
2. Brand Endorsement Deals: The Repsol Honda Team pays his salary. But Marc makes $3 million from his endorsements with Red Bull, the drinks company and is a Red Bull Athlete. Along with them, he is also backed by PULL&BEAR which is a clothing company; helmet manufacturers Shoei and Estrella Galicia which is a brand of lager beer. Tissot, Allianz, and Oakley are other brands also working with him.
3. Investments: Marc has some properties in Madrid with an estimated value of $10 million. But he is also a car and watch collector. You can find M6 Coupé (2013), M4 Coupé (2014), M6 Convertible (2015), M2 Coupé (2016), M4 CS (2017), M3 CS (2018) e o X4 M (2019) in his garage.
4. Philanthropic Efforts: Marc Marquez has collaborated with many organizations like UNESCO, Red Cross, and Allianz for charity purposes. During the COVID pandemic, the Marquez brothers auctioned off a specially designed helmet for the 2020 MotoGP World Championship and all the proceeds went to Red Cross. Along with Allianz Seguros, Marc Marquez started the Laps for Life 93 initiative which aims at “making responsible social projects that improve the lives of people through associations and charities.”
Shoutout: Marc launched, past February, the Prime Video & Amazon Studios documentary, "Marc Marquez: ALL IN", a five-episode mini-series that reviews his successful career.
