The popular American sports and entertainment crew, known as Dude Perfect recently made a big announcement that's got everyone buzzing. They're stepping into the world of Premier League football by investing in the Burnley Football Club. Yep, these YouTube sensations are following in the footsteps of other American stars like NFL player JJ Watt and his wife, former USWNT player Kealia Ohai, who have also shown their support for the Clarets.
The Dude Perfect crew, made up of Garrett Hilbert, Tyler Toney, Cody Jones, Coby Cotton, and Cory Cotton, describe themselves as a "sports and comedy group." With a whopping 60 million subscribers and over 19 billion views on YouTube, they've got a massive fan base. Now, they're taking their passion for sports to the next level by officially becoming part of the club's ownership group. Their goal? To introduce Burnley to a whole new and wider audience of fans.
In a video they shared on their social media channels, the Dude Perfect gang couldn't contain their excitement as they announced their investment in the club. This news comes hot on the heels of Burnley revealing that the YouTubers would be sponsoring the club's youth and academy teams for the upcoming season.
These YouTube stars will even be at Burnley's season opener against Manchester City, showing their dedication to the club. Their main mission? To bring the spotlight to Burnley and attract younger fans to support the team.
"We've been fans of the Premier League for a while now, so we're thrilled to make things official with Burnley and hopefully introduce a bunch of new fans to the club," said Hilbert.
He also mentioned that they've had conversations with JJ Watt, and his passion and ideas for growing the club excited them. So, they're ready to roll up their sleeves and get involved.
Currently, Burnley is owned by Velocity Sports Partners, a sports investment firm linked to the US management company ALK Capital. They acquired a majority stake in the Turf Moor side in 2020 for around $250 million, with several minority investors, including JJ Watt and 'Dude Perfect.'
In an official statement posted on the club's website, Burnley FC Chairman Alan Pace expressed his delight, saying, "We're thrilled to officially welcome Dude Perfect to the Clarets family, marking another exciting step as we gear up for the 2023/24 season."
He added, "The guys have shown tremendous interest and passion for the club, its history, and our community. I'm excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring as we continue to attract new fans and showcase the Burnley brand to a global audience." So, it looks like exciting times are ahead for Burnley and its new supporters, thanks to Dude Perfect.
